SINGING DANCING ACTING
Harmony and Rhythm is a non-auditioned
performing group for boys and girls 3
through 12 years of age. This program is
designed to teach children many aspects of
the performing arts.
Vocal Training
Children can learn basic technique at an early age.
As they participate in Harmony & Rhythm,
children develop their ear to learn correct pitch,
harmony, blend and technique - for an overall
great sound.
Music Theory
Through fun games and activities even
the smallest children learn the concept
of theory. Harmony & Rhythm directors
spend a few minutes regularly on a
specific aspect of theory.
Dance
Because each show has a different theme, a
Harmony & Rhythm student learns a variety of
music and dance. Songs are choreographed
according to music style. Difficulty in technique
varies according to age. Children learn
proper dance steps without dancing in way
that would inhibit vocal performance.
For the serious dancer, Harmony & Rhythm
does not replace technical dance classes,
but complements them.
Theatre
Drama exercises are among the favorite activities
for our students and include pantomime,
improvisation, monologue, skits, imaginary
journey, and puppetry.
Microphone Work
Learning to use the microphone properly
is another benefit of the program. Solos,
duets, and speaking parts are part of
the overall Harmony & Rhythm experience.
Proper presentation on stage becomes a
great asset to participants in other aspects
of their lives. They improve in public speaking
and presentations of oral reports, etc.
Performing
Performing is a key part of Harmony & Rhythm's
success. Magical things happen as children
increase in confidence and skill through
performing. Performing at the end of each
session is as important as the teaching time
itself.
