SINGING - DANCING - ACTING - MUSIC LESSONS

Tempo Tots: ages 18 mo.- 3 years
A once a week, 30-minute, interactive, hands-on learning experience
designed for caregivers and children ages 18 months to 3 years.  This
program offers a chance for toddlers to socialize and become accustomed
to a class situation, and to joyfully explore rhythm, music, and movement.

Combination Classes: ages 3-18
Students meet once a week for a 45 minute class that combines voice,
dance, and drama instruction.  This program provides an opportunity for
students to enhance their knowledge of the arts, explore their creativity,
and express themselves.  We incorporate the following components into
our classes:

Vocal Training
Children can learn basic technique at an early age. As they participate in
Harmony & Rhythm, children develop their ear to learn correct pitch,
harmony, blend and technique - for an overall great sound.

Music Theory
Through fun games and activities even
the smallest children learn the concept
of theory. Harmony & Rhythm directors
spend a few minutes each week on a
specific aspect of theory.

Dance
Because each show has a different theme, a Harmony & Rhythm student
learns a variety of music and dance. Songs are choreographed
according to music style. Difficulty in technique varies according to age.
Children learn proper dance steps without dancing in a way that would
inhibit vocal performance.  For the serious dancer, Harmony & Rhythm
does not replace technical dance classes, but compliments them.

Theatre
Drama exercises are among the favorite
activities for our students and include
pantomime, improvisation, monologue,
skits, imaginary journey, and puppetry.

Microphone
Learning to use the microphone properly is another benefit of the program.
Solos, duets, and speaking parts are part of the overall Harmony & Rhythm
experience.  Proper presentation on stage becomes a great asset to
participants in other aspects of their lives. They improve in public speaking
and presentations of oral reports, etc.

Performing
Performing is a key part of Harmony & Rhythm's success.
Magical things happen as children increase in confidence
and skill through performing.  Performing at the end of
each session is as important as the teaching time itself.
